Volleyball Game Preview: Licking Heights Hornets vs. Pickerington Central Tigers

The Licking Heights Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Pickerington Central Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pickerington Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Licking Heights, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Licking Heights got the win against Northland by a conclusive 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

One reason for the win was Licking Heights' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-11, 25-8.

Licking Heights found their leader in sophomore Evan Boren, who had 14 digs. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Boren.

Licking Heights was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Pickerington Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reynoldsburg. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-21 in the first set.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Pickerington Central lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22.

Licking Heights now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pickerington Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
