Basketball Recap: Walthill Takes a Loss

Walthill lost against Hartington-Newcastle back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Walthill Blujays lost to the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats on the road by a 61-47 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Blujays have lost by exactly 14 points.

Hartington-Newcastle found their leader in sophomore Austin Sudbeck, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Sudbeck. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Heimes, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Walthill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Hartington-Newcastle and bumps their season record up to 9-14.

Walthill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Creighton at 7:00 p.m. Hartington-Newcastle is facing Creighton at the right time seeing as Creighton is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
