Baseball Game Preview: Ironwood Eagles vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

Ironwood hasn't had much luck against Sunrise Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. Ironwood has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ironwood's last matchup with Sunrise Mountain could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 13-0 to the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Sunrise Mountain's part, Bryce Madison made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Madison has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Heid was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Logan Guilford, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ironwood only posted an OBP of .118.

Ironwood's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Sunrise Mountain, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-10 record.
