            Softball Recap: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. Sycamore War Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Fairview barely beat Sycamore the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the War Eagles with a sharp  14-4 win on Wednesday. The  victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.
 Maddie McGowan made a big impact no matter where she played. She  tossed four innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  firing off two  home runs, six  RBI,  and one  double while going 3-for-3. That's the most  home runs  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  Allie Penning was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.  Mollie Street was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI.

Fairview's win was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 9-11. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Sycamore,  they are  on  an  eight-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 3-20.
As of now, neither Fairview nor the War Eagles have any future games scheduled.
