Basketball Game Preview: Peotone Blue Devils vs. Reed-Custer Comets

The Peotone Blue Devils will head out to take on the Reed-Custer Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peotone is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Peotone will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Streator, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Peotone walked away with a 46-39 victory over Streator on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Blue Devils' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 117th).

Meanwhile, Reed-Custer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 44-39 to Herscher. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peotone pushed their record up to 11-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Reed-Custer, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-17.

Peotone was able to grind out a solid win over Reed-Custer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 54-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Peotone since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
