The Denver East Angels will square off against the Rangeview Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Denver East has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Rangeview will arrive with 18 straight victories.
On Saturday, Denver East didn't have quite enough to beat Denver South and fell 67-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Angels still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from NIJIER ALEXANDER, who went 7 of 10 to rack up 16 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 50% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of JAMES MURRAY, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Rangeview faced George Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Rangeview walked away with a 61-51 win over George Washington. The Raiders pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.
Denver East better keep an eye on Ladavian King. He was instrumental in Rangeview's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave King a new career-high in rebounds. Marceles Duncan was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.
Rangeview's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. As for Denver East, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Denver East hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.2 points per game. However, it's not like Rangeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 73.1 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
