Basketball Recap: Porter Comes Up Short

Porter lost against Edcouch-Elsa back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Porter Cowboys took a hard 87-73 fall against the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets. The Cowboys just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Porter still got an impressive performance from Eduardo Garza, who went 12-for-24 on his way to 33 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. That was a full 45.2% of Porter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Silva, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Garza wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Porter was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jaydon Villalpando had an outrageously good game for Edcouch-Elsa as he almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Villalpando a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jacob Uvalle, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and four steals.

Porter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Porter has already played their next contest, a 44-41 win against Lopez on the 7th. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 100-47 victory against Donna North on the 7th.
