Baseball Game Preview: Orchard Park Quakers vs. Iroquois Redhawks

The Orchard Park Quakers will head out on the road to square off against the Iroquois Redhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Orchard Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Orchard Park fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Williamsville North on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Quakers have lost by just one run.

Orchard Park saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Newlove, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run. Sean Robertson was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Iroquois was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Maryvale. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Redhawks, who fell 7-5 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.

Orchard Park's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Iroquois, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Orchard Park was able to grind out a solid victory over Iroquois in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Quakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
