Basketball Game Preview: Rincon/University Rangers vs. Sunnyside Blue Devils

Rincon/University and Sunnyside are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Rincon/University Rangers will head out to face off against the Sunnyside Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sunnyside will be up against a hot Rincon/University team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. Rincon/University breezed by Tucson High Magnet School to the tune of 63-29 on Tuesday. The Rangers pushed the score to 45-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Badgers had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 77-17 victory over Marana. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Tigers are ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sunnyside has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Rincon/University, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Rincon/University came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunnyside in their previous meeting last Tuesday, sneaking past 46-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rincon/University since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
