Baseball Recap: New Miami Vikings vs. Clark Montessori Cougars
New Miami had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it eight. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clark Montessori Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.
As for Clark Montessori, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.
For Clark Montessori's part, Ethan Ernst and Chase Williams were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ernst struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Williams pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Miami will head out to take on North College Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clark Montessori, they will venture away from home to square off against Summit Country Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
