Basketball Game Preview: East River Falcons vs. Davenport Broncos

The East River Falcons will head out to take on the Davenport Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. East River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Davenport likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for East River against Innovation as the squad secured a 63-25 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Bulls are ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boooklyn O'Gallagher continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 40 points. The game was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. Hallie Afoon was another key player, posting eight points.

Meanwhile, Davenport played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 59-39 to Victory Christian Academy. The Broncos were down 51-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

East River's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Davenport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

East River strolled past Davenport in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 65-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for East River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
