Baseball Recap: Kankakee Valley Gets the Win

Kankakee Valley came out on top against Benton Central on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Kougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bison 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Kougars.

Donny Stam was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Kankakee Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-9-1 when he doesn't).

Stam wasn't the only one making solid contact: Kankakee Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Kougars are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Kankakee Valley back to even at 9-9-1. As for Benton Central, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-16.

Looking ahead, Kankakee Valley will head out on the road to challenge Lowell at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Benton Central, they will host McCutcheon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
