Narrows hasn't had much luck against Eastern Montgomery recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Narrows is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 23-1 to Giles.
Braylee Robertson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Eastern Montgomery hadn't done well against Parry McCluer recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs blew past the Fighting Blues 21-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 11 runs or more this season.
Mary Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Macie Akers was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Katie Salyer was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
The victory (which was Eastern Montgomery's third in a row) raised their record to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Narrows, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Narrows might still be hurting after the 22-3 defeat they got from Eastern Montgomery when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Green Waves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
