Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Mooney Takes a Loss

Cardinal Mooney lost against McDonald back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cardinals lost 3-0 to the Blue Devils. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Cardinal Mooney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Genesis Alvarez had seven digs and three aces.

McDonald can attribute much of their success to Miley Titus, who had seven digs and four aces. That's the most aces Titus has posted since back in August of 2024.

Cardinal Mooney now has a losing record of 1-2. As for McDonald, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Cardinal Mooney will challenge Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McDonald, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Lakeview on the 23rd.
