Volleyball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Takes a Loss

Genoa-Hugo/Karval managed to slip by Evangel Christian Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pirates lost 3-0 to the Eagles on Tuesday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Genoa-Hugo/Karval was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-10, 25-23.

Alexis James paced Genoa-Hugo/Karval's offense, picking up eight kills. James got some help from Rhegan Sitzman and her eight assists. James was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Evangel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Bailey Roberts, who had 15 digs. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Limon on the 11th. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Flagler on the 11th.
