Basketball Game Preview: Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks vs. Dupree Tigers

Tiospaye Topa and Dupree are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks will head out to take on the Dupree Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Tiospaye Topa has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 31.

Last Saturday, Tiospaye Topa was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 68-63 to Oelrichs. While the Thunderhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 18-9 in the first quarter.

Despite their defeat, Tiospaye Topa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrei Hojas, who posted 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 21 points gave Hojas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevian Kills Crow, who earned 13 points.

Dupree has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 74-62 to Lower Brule on Thursday.

Dupree's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Tiospaye Topa, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Tiospaye Topa took a serious blow against Dupree when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 73-37. Can Tiospaye Topa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
