Baseball Recap: Sweeny Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

With a playoff win on the line, Sweeny rose to the challenge on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Rockport-Fulton Pirates with a sharp 10-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly seven runs.

Sweeny got a great performance from Wyatt Wilkinson as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Kelley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rooke Samford, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Sweeny pushed their record up to 21-10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Rockport-Fulton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16-1 record this season.

Sweeny will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rockport-Fulton: the pair will be back at it again later today.
