Basketball Recap: Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Comes Up Short

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley was the 81-63 winner over Verndale when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolves fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 77-75 on Thursday.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Verndale, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northome/Kelliher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 80.05 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Verndale, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Henning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
