Steward put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Amelia Academy Patriots 99-56. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-29.
Steward got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Herndon out in front who dropped a triple-double with 17 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Herndon is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Niles Mason was another key player, going 8-for-11 to rack up 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Steward was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.
Steward's record is now 3-0. As for Amelia Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Steward and Amelia Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Spartans see the court they'll take on Fredericksburg Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 4.
