Football Recap: Palm Harbor University Takes a Loss

Palm Harbor University suffered their closest loss since February 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the East Lake Eagles by a score of 20-18. The Hurricanes were up 18-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the defeat, Palm Harbor University saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bianca Menconi rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 177 yards on ten of 25 attempts. With that strong performance, Menconi is now averaging an impressive 100.3 rushing yards per game.

The critical scores for East Lake came from Taylor Feeley, Rebekah Huillet, and Bella Comini.

Palm Harbor University's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for East Lake, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Palm Harbor University and Tarpon Springs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:30 p.m. on March 25th. Palm Harbor University's defense has only allowed 6.7 points per game this season, so Tarpon Springs' offense will have their work cut out for them. East Lake will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pinellas Park at 7:30 p.m. on March 26th.
