Softball Preview: North Posey Vikings vs. Mt. Carmel Aces

The North Posey Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Mt. Carmel Aces at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Posey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

North Posey came out on top against Evansville North on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Vikings blew past the Huskies 8-1. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Not much got past Avery Sanders, who gave up just seven hits to keep Evansville North off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Paige Vaughn, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hester, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Mt. Carmel was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell 6-1 to Robinson.

North Posey's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Mt. Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

North Posey came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
