Basketball Recap: Baboquivari Beats the Gregory School for Their Third Straight Victory

Baboquivari entered their tilt with The Gregory School on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past The Gregory School Hawks 56-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Baboquivari had a senior duo take command as Kara Baptisto went 8 for 14 on her way to 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists and Sulamae Castro went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Baptisto has scored at least a third of Baboquivari's points. La'Mel Martinez was another key player, putting up four points and 11 boards.

Baboquivari smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

The Gregory School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rose Pisetsky, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. Pisetsky is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Arias-White, who put up six points.

Baboquivari has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points per game. As for The Gregory School, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
