The Franklin Regional Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Gateway Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Franklin Regional has three straight victories, Gateway has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin Regional faced off against Greater Latrobe on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 6-2.
Chloe Lancaster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Ciara Camacho and Toryn Fulton did most of the damage at the plate: Camacho went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Fulton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Camacho is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. CC Copeland was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Franklin Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Greater Latrobe hit Gateway with a six-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gators lost 10-0 to the Wildcats.
Gateway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbie Leff, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Alayna Dawson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Franklin Regional's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Gateway, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Franklin Regional took their victory against Gateway in their previous meeting on April 7th by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
