Softball Game Preview: Kossuth Aggies vs. Booneville Blue Devils

The Kossuth Aggies will challenge the Booneville Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kossuth's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Booneville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Booneville will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Kossuth extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Aggies were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Pine Grove. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hallie Kate Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kossuth got a massive performance out of Emma Franks, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Franks has posted since back in February. Caliann Mitchell was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Booneville lost 15-5 to Itawamba Agricultural on Saturday.

Booneville's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8. As for Kossuth, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Kossuth came out on top in a nail-biter against Booneville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Aggies repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
