Archbishop McNicholas has gone a perfect 10-0 against Archbishop Alter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Archbishop Alter will be up against a hot Archbishop McNicholas squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Rockets came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Sycamore. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Natalie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Lucy Laudeman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Leah Anstaett, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop McNicholas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter fell victim to Badin and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 16-0 to the Rams. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Archbishop McNicholas pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Alter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything went Archbishop McNicholas' way against Archbishop Alter when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Archbishop McNicholas made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
