Baseball Recap: Mt. Eden Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mt. Eden can now relate to. They lost 11-2 to the San Leandro Pirates on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Javier Alfaro III was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bryan Zamora was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Mt. Eden dropped their record down to 12-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for San Leandro, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Mt. Eden nor San Leandro have any future games scheduled.
