Baseball Game Preview: Azusa Aztecs vs. Garey Vikings

For the second straight game, Azusa will face off against Garey. Azusa will host Garey at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Azusa turned things around against Garey on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Vikings 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aztecs have posted since May 30, 2024.

Zach Huizar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jacob Elliot was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Azusa's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Garey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
