Baseball Game Preview: Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen vs. Lena-Winslow Panthers

Durand/Pecatonica is 2-7 against Lena-Winslow since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rivermen will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Durand/Pecatonica has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Durand/Pecatonica is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Dakota on Tuesday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 16-1.

Lena-Winslow came out on top against West Carroll on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Panthers put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 13-3 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Luke Madigan was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Cox, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lena-Winslow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Carroll only posted an OBP of .286.

Lena-Winslow has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Durand/Pecatonica, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Everything went Durand/Pecatonica's way against Lena-Winslow in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Durand/Pecatonica made off with a 14-7 win. Do the Rivermen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
