Basketball Recap: Mara Mickelson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Roy

Viewmont won the last time they faced Roy and things went their way on Friday too. The Viewmont Vikings enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over the Roy Royals. The Vikings pushed the score to 50-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Royals cut but never quite recovered from.

Viewmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mara Mickelson out in front who went 6 for 15 on her way to 20 points and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Mickelson a new career-high. Mary Carr was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Viewmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Roy lost, don't look at Jerzee Hart. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.
