Softball Recap: Normal University Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jacksonville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Normal University). They walked away with a 15-10 win over the Jacksonville Crimsons on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Makenzie Post looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 games. Finley Benner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Normal University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville only managed eight hits.

Normal University is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Jacksonville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8-1.

Coming up, Normal University will face off against Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jacksonville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Decatur Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Crimsons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
