After each having a week off, the Corsicana Tigers and the Poteet Pirates will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corsicana is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Corsicana is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Crandall last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Corsicana came up short against Crandall, falling 45-20. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Poteet came into Thursday's game having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 44-23 margin over Greenville two weeks ago. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their seven-point performance the match before.

Dylan Davis had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Montreal Hodge also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Poteet didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hodge and Mari'On Thomas. Another thorn in Greenville's side was Elijah Wade, who picked up two sacks, forced a fumble, and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Poteet was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 250 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Corsicana's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Poteet, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.
