Basketball Recap: Darbi Hunsberger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mt. Carmel Christian Academy over Ridgeview Christian

If Mt. Carmel Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 78-13 takedown of Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell 56-45 to the Ridgeview Christian Crusaders on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost four in a row.

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Darbi Hunsberger, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Haelyn Morris, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Ridgeview Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addy Woody led the charge by putting up seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those eight boards gave Woody a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josi Woody, who put up five points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy's record is now 2-2. As for Ridgeview Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-36 defeat against Front Royal HomeSchool on the 20th. As for Ridgeview Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-48 win against Appalachian Christian School on the 21st.
