Baseball Recap: New Ulm Comes Up Short

New Ulm lost to Marshall on May 11th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Owen Castleman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Zach Hubbard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

New Ulm has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

As of now, neither New Ulm nor Marshall have any future games scheduled.
