Basketball Recap: Trumyah Mccullough and Zakiya Petterson Secure Win for O'bannon

O'Bannon waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 41-37 W against the Leland Cubs. The squad ran away with 29 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Leading O'Bannon to victory were Zakiya Petterson and Trumyah McCullough. Petterson shot 50% from the field on her way to 14 points, while McCullough dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Petterson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Janyah Ware was another key player, putting up six points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

O'Bannon's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Leland, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

O'Bannon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Yazoo County at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026. As for Leland, they will square off against Amanda Elzy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
