Softball Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Ottawa Pirates

Seneca is 1-6 against Ottawa since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fighting Irish will square off against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Seneca is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Wednesday, Seneca was able to grind out a solid victory over Coal City, taking the game 9-4.

Meanwhile, Ottawa didn't have quite enough to beat Kaneland on Wednesday and fell 4-3.

Seneca's win was their 28th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.6 runs thus far. As for Ottawa, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Seneca might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Ottawa in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
