The Hart Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Spring Lake Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Hart can't be too worried about heading out to take on Spring Lake: they just beat Kent City at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Pirates put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. Considering the Pirates have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kelsey Copenhaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leah Walker and Nora Chickering did most of the damage at the plate: Walker went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Chickering went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Walker has posted since back in April. Maryn Klotz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Spring Lake got the win against Holland on Monday by a conclusive 17-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lakers.
Khloe Melinn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Melinn was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Tessa Britt was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Cheyenne Lyons also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Spring Lake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Hart's record now sits at 17-8. As for Spring Lake, their record is now 10-14.
