Softball Recap: Mercy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mercy took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Notre Dame, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Tigers 9-8 on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won four contests in a row.

Viviana Reyes was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Fefe Alusa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Mercy's record now sits at 7-2. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mercy will take on Terra Nova at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. As for Notre Dame, they will square off against Carlmont at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
