Recap: Mercer County Titans vs. East Jessamine Jaguars
The Mercer County Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season. They ended the year with a bang, routing East Jessamine 64-40. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-13.
It was another big night for Ak Drakeford, who scored 23 points along with five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Mercer County's points. Sara Dunn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Mercer County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for East Jessamine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer County will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bourbon County at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Bourbon County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Mercer County is ranked 84th). As for East Jessamine, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
