Basketball Game Preview: Roanoke Catholic Celtics vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers

Roanoke Catholic is 1-9 against Hargrave Military Academy since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Roanoke Catholic Celtics will host the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Roanoke Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.

Roanoke Catholic is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Eastern Mennonite: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Roanoke Catholic blew Eastern Mennonite out of the water with an 87-37 final score. The Celtics have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 25 points or more this season.

Demarcus Brown and Jayden Johnson were among the main playmakers for Roanoke Catholic as the former posted 20 points and the latter scored 19 points. Johnson's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyce Lemon, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, Hargrave Military Academy made easy work of New Covenant on Tuesday and carried off a 73-51 victory.

Hargrave Military Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. As for Roanoke Catholic, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Roanoke Catholic came up short against Hargrave Military Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 78-69.
