Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Wins Going Away Against Iowa Colony

Santa Fe got themselves on the board against Iowa Colony on Friday, but Iowa Colony never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Pioneers. The Indians not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th.

Santa Fe got a massive performance out of Johnathan Baccinelli, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Baccinelli has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Higgins, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Santa Fe has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Iowa Colony, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Santa Fe will square off against rival La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.3, the Bulldogs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Iowa Colony is set to challenge their familiar foe Angleton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
