Basketball Recap: Southern Alamance Takes a Loss

Southern Alamance played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves, falling 34-12. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Fighting Red Wolves recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Southern Alamance still got an impressive performance from Sarah Kathryn Maness, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 75% of Southern Alamance's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Cedar Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kassidy Tolliver, who scored nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Tolliver is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Finnegan, who earned five points and six steals.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Cedar Ridge, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

Southern Alamance wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-5 defeat against Western Alamance on the 29th. As for Cedar Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-35 loss against Eastern Alamance on the 29th.
