Basketball Recap: Mac Baggett and Paul 'Ryan' Carter Secure Win for Houston County

A well-balanced attack led Houston County over Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Houston County Fighting Irish were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 79-59 back in January.

Leading Houston County to victory were Paul 'Ryan' Carter and Mac Baggett. Carter dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards, while Baggett went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Carter a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Casen Clark, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Houston County and bumps their season record up to 13-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston County will challenge Camden Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Camden Central has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three matchups. As for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, they will square off against Greenfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
