Softball Recap: Mccollum Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

McCollum won the last time they faced Southwest Legacy and things went their way on Monday too. The McCollum Cowboys walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Southwest Legacy Titans. That's two games straight that the Cowboys have won by exactly four runs.

RUIZ MADELYNN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on MARTINEZ LAUREN, who went 1-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. AMARISS TOVAR also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

McCollum has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Southwest Legacy and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coincidentally, McCollum and Southwest Legacy will both be playing Southwest the next time they take the field. Southwest Legacy will host Southwest at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while McCollum will host them at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th.
