Recap: McKinney Lions vs. Marcus Marauders
With a playoff game on the line, the McKinney Lions rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over Marcus. The result was nothing new for McKinney, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKinney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Godspower Nwawuihe , who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Khali Best, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
McKinney's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Makhi Frazier was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Despite the loss, Marcus still got an impressive performance from Brock Golwas, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Golwas' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Karic Grennan was another key contributor, picking up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown.
McKinney's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Marcus, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
McKinney will face off against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Marcus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
