Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 47-33 to the El Paso Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Silver Foxes of the 49-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

El Paso's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Guevara led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to six steals and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Paola Duran, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for El Paso, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will square off against Canutillo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Paso, they will face off against Burges at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
