Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Laurel Smart and Maya Scipio Lead Oak Ridge to Victory

Oak Ridge won against Colfax on Tuesday with 26 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Oakmont Vikings with a sharp 26-0 victory. The Trojans' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

A big part of Oak Ridge's victory came down to the chemistry between Maya Scipio and her top target Laurel Smart. Scipio threw for 152 yards and four touchdowns while Smart picked up 98 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Smart a new career-high.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Oak Ridge's defense and their four sacks. Oakmont's QB won't forget Berkeley Lampe anytime soon given she sacked her twice. Lampe is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Oak Ridge's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Oakmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Oak Ridge will welcome Vista del Lago at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 7.3 points per game this season, so the Trojans' offense will have their work cut out for them. Oakmont has already played their next contest (against Roseville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
