Baseball Recap: Frontier Takes a Loss

After flying high against Belpre on Wednesday, Frontier came back down to earth. The Cougars fell just short of the Waterford Wildcats by a score of 8-7 on Friday.

Austyn Kephart was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Rinard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

Frontier has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Waterford, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frontier will face off against Fort Frye at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waterford, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Marietta at 5:00 p.m.
