Volleyball Game Preview: Tinley Park Titans vs. Argo Argonauts

The Tinley Park Titans will take on the Argo Argonauts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tinley Park will be strutting in after a win while Argo will be coming in after a defeat.

Argo will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Tinley Park extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Titans walked away with a 2-0 victory over Hillcrest.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Tinley Park was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tinley Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Mungcal, who had six digs and five aces. Mungcal has been hot recently, having posted three or more aces the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Benitez, who had 12 digs.

Tinley Park couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 50% of their attack attempts. They are a perfect 3-0 when when their percentage is at least 0.4.

Meanwhile, Argo came up short against Homewood-Flossmoor on Wednesday and fell 2-0. The Argonauts have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

While Argo was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23.

Tinley Park's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Argo, their loss dropped their record down to 22-9.

Tinley Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Argo when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Argonauts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
