If Vidor was riding high fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Jasper last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vidor Pirates fell just short of the Bridge City Cardinals by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brooks Burns was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

Vidor's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Bridge City, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1-1.

While Vidor had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
