Preview: Paschal Panthers vs. Weatherford Kangaroos

The Paschal Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Weatherford Kangaroos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Paschal managed to keep up with Bell until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Paschal was beaten by Bell 44-14. While losing is never fun, Paschal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 571st, while Bell is ranked 252nd).

Even if they lost, Paschal's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Bell's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Bell's QB won't forget Jack Davis anytime soon given Davis sacked him four times.

Meanwhile, Weatherford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 38-7 defeat at the hands of Trinity. Weatherford was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Paschal's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Crowley and 7-2 Kimball (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Weatherford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Paschal suffered a grim 35-13 defeat to Weatherford in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Paschal, Melvin Polk (who gained 96 total yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
